Forest Hill is an affluent neighbourhood in central Toronto. It was originally incorporated as a village in the 1930s. Previously known as Spadina Heights, a name that continues to be applied to the area into the twentieth century, is one of Toronto’s wealthiest neighbourhoods. Forest Hill occupies most of the original area of the village which extends from Briar Hill Avenue to Heath Street, along Spadina Road and Bathurst Street. The Lower Village area is known for its very upscale shopping and dining, although the actual mixture of stores does include several modest companies including Blockbuster, Starbucks, and Second Cup. Forest Hill homes are among most of the beautiful, abundant and wealthiest homes in the Toronto area. The Forest Hill Village shopping district is located at the intersection of Spadina Road and Lonsdale Road. The ambience of this private enclave of stores is that of a small town rather than a big city and its boutiques and shops cater to the specific needs of Forest Hill’s affluent residents.
