Parkdale is an area of Toronto, which is now one of the most diverse areas of the city. Good examples of Victorian housing can be found on Cowan Avenue and Dunn Street, south of King Street. Many new immigrants are moving to Parkdale, because of the lower rents for first homes here. The large immigrant community creates vibrancy in Parkdale. Parkdale is becoming more and more urbanized, and developing new cafes, lunges, restaurants, condominium and loft buildings, shops, art galleries and revamped versions of older hotels such as The Drake Hotel, and The Gladstone Hotel into very trendy hotels. The area is a prime real estate location with its close proximity to Lake Ontario, the Gardiner Expressway, the downtown core, Queen West, Liberty Village and the surrounding parks.
